"It begins with a single flake of snow..." - Auguste Garamonde

The regular musings of a guy less ordinary.

Ph.D student, skiier, writer, sociologist, daft about my dogs, Tarantino nut, photographer, Newcastle United fan, film buff, music hound, occasional gamer and ardent student of history.

I go bat loopy for the Tarantino-verse, snow covered mountains, Arcade Fire, Chucky (yes, Charles Lee Ray), the life and times of Ryo Hazuki, Nineteen Eighty-Four, the Discworld, DCI John Luther, happenings in Middle Earth, Ghana, Jack Bauer, dystopic dwellings and adventures in the neo-noir.

"Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows" - George Orwell

""When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them 'no, I went to films.'"
-- Quentin Tarantino

Fresh tracks were so easy to find. It was very rare we ever skied a line in which we could see any of our other lines, but the powder here was so darn good, we had to revisit this section. Amazing skiing!

An average run (seriously!) with Crescent Spur Heli-Skiing, located in British Columbia, Canada. We were so lucky to enjoy face-shot after face-shot after face-shot on most runs. The best skiing of my life! Mythical skiing!

Reflecting on Her Favourite Place on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Our beautiful dog Tia still enjoying the beach nearly one full year after sadly been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She is now finished her chemotherapy treatment, something that undoubtedly bought her a lot more time, but the cancer is still with her. This shot is her loving the beach four months chemo free. We know she is on borrowed time, but you’d never think it!
I had this shot in mind when we went down the beach and was very pleased with how it came out. Imagination doesn’t hurt does it?
Photo shoot down my local beach with my three lovely Springer Spaniels, Tia, Pippet and Aspen. Timed it just right for the light, it proved to be a rather successful hour or so.

A Treetop Falcon by Avanaut on Flickr.Via Flickr:
There I was, minding my own business in our backyard, when I heard this ear splitting noise from above. An aeroplane, I thought at first, a jet. But noo, it was that weird hairy pantsless guy from next door again, buzzing away in that Falcon ship with his smuggler pal. Always working on that piece of junk, “special modifications”, they say. Yeah, right! Don’t they have mufflers in those things? Really!
I managed to catch a photo of the clearly illegal low pass, I’l submit it to the local police, that’ll teach them.
Some people…Avanaut in Facebook for those who are into that sorta thing.
